Join SLO Gardenschool as a paid early childhood intern and gain hands-on experience in a small, relationship-centered program.
Early Childhood Internship
$18 / hour | 5 - 10 hours / week ( M – Th )
Includes paid two paid 30-minute professional development & collaboration meetings per month
Start Date: January 2027 with Fall 2026 Onboarding
Must have consistent availability for 2–4 mornings per week.
Shifts are 2–2.5 hours, scheduled between 7:45 AM and 12:30 PM.
• A supportive setting with individualized professional development
• Opportunities to practice observation, documentation, child guidance, curriculum development, and teaching leadership
• Experience with emergent, project-based learning in a garden-based environment
• Predictable morning hours
• Opportunities for increased hours and pay as you grow with the program
Must be 18 years or older
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Must be willing to complete a background check (Live Scan)
Must be willing to provide proof of required immunizations (MMR, Tdap)
We understand that college schedules change each semester and do not expect applicants to know their January availability yet. Promising applicants will be invited to connect with us this fall, with internship schedules confirmed once winter schedules are available.
